We did tunnel running practices last 3 days.
He is running fast when chasing Koto, even faster racing with her!
but hmm..slow and airy with me and curved tunnel.

Silvia's Comment to this video:
Cool, he sure loved the chasing Koto game! I would play some more of that and then next have Koto around but only
have Niah doing the tunnel and only then working with him alone, but
still just a straight tunnel first and then curving it slowly maybe.
When you curve it significantly, you can call
Koto for help again some.
My dogs love this game:
I have been trying to teach Niah stronger 2on2off understanding, tugging on position and faster release from position.
I didn’t do well with all release ques but I think he is starting to understand
what am I aiming for!
2オン2オフのポジションの意識を高める為にポジションでタグを始めましたよ。
Silvia's comment to this video:
Looks great! Another thing you can still try to get though is driving
into the position more.
I normally try with exciting them first,
restraining and then racing them into the position,
but I know he
doesn’t like restraining, so try to think of another way…
Here is our completed version of Agility Foundation, Lesson 5!
Just a little more to master Threadle, Serpentine and Push!
I need to keep practice with 180 degrees jumps, mixing up all these 3 now!
Silvia's comment to this video:
Wow, you sure mastered those threadles, pushes and serpentines!!! Next, you can mix them up even more, do a serpentine on first two
jumps and then a push, or start with a push, do a serpentine on 2 and
then threadle in for 3. Great job with the sequence too! But maybe try
somewhat earlier front crosses, like changing hands on 4 before he takes
off already so that by the time he lands, you can be all turned and
running in the next direction already. It really makes a big difference
in how fast we can be on the next place. Also, keep working on one jump
and tunnel sends to get better commitment, he pulls after you really
easily if you don’t go with him all the way.
My Response:
Thank you Silvia. Great idea! I will try to mix them up next time.
and I will keep practicing my PRE-que and body movement!!
I notice that his tunnel drive has not improved so much and he is always sensitive with my movement. (Weave and contact too)
So.. Do you have tip to make him excited to run into tunnel? or exercise
to improve his independence?
Is it Lesson one-two sequence??
Silvia's response:
Hm, maybe some more playing with straight tunnel? If Koto likes it, you
could even try him chase her through to see that it’s fun. Le didn’t
drive well to tunnels either, but what helped a lot was clicking her
when I saw better speed towards the tunnel (and rewarding as she got
out) AND especially training for RC with tunnels, sending her to a
tunnel first, then have her run the plank and chase her ball. Once she
got the idea that plank will come after that tunnel, she started to love
that tunnel almost as much as her plank
For independence and commitment, rewarding with a thrown toy helps
enormously too, so I would definitely work on his drive to chase a ball
too!
Guess how old is this energetic and good looking Border Collie, Mr. Astro!?
He is 15 years old, previous Flyball national champion and worked as Wendy's service dog for a long time. I finally met Camilla and Wendy (and their dogs) today at Kepala pet resort, we rent agility yard and swimming pool for dogs for nearly 3 hours! a lot of swimming and fun! Astro had a lovely swim and chased ball too! It was very exciting to see him being very energetic and happy!Yes, doing sports with dogs or letting them to work is the best way to keep them healthy and happy! Video from Camilla, and Grace having fun Diving and Agility!!
I couldn't decide what contact I should teach for DW, I am sure we would prefer running A-Frame
but never run course, never done agility so it's not easy to decide which one is good for me.
But After dog understood good 2o2o behavior, then switch to RC is not easy,
but other way around is. although it is possible to teach both method at once as showing on above video.
but it should practice RC before 2o2o.
RC has a lot more lisk and big time consuming to train, need to set up Dog walk and repeat running for 3-4 month.
but A Frame 2o2o has lisk to injury and gives strong shoulder pressure, we never ever want to have any accident
in agility and I would avoid even small lisk of injurly thinking about Koto-being too fast.
We have backyard now, we can set up plank/DW, Silvia will support us, and our dogs are still very young!
Why not??
Here is our very beginning of our both method training :)
Silvia's comment to this video:
His 2on2off looks good to me, no problem if he goes into a bow when
not released immediately. I would, however, throw in more releasing to a
thrown toy as soon as he gets into the position as rewarding in a
position every time makes staying there very easy – and very different
from how things will looks like in a trial. So you can slowly make it
look more like in a trial now. I would be releasing immediately
more&more frequently and sometimes still rewarding a position, but
yes, tugging would be even better: try tugging very gently first, he
might hold the position then – if not, stop the play, ask him to go into
the position again and then play again. He needs to learn the play
stops if he leaves the position.
You can work on all 2on2off steps on a box and then go directly to a
DW once you already did some RC too. You can use a plank now yes and you
can for now train with you ahead and a tug toy, but you will definitely
need forward focus also with you behind, so I would work a lot on him
liking to retrieve to tug too. This subject is addressed to more details
in my new DVD, but in short, make it all about tugging, but do some
throwing in between too, so that he connects it’s the same game. Meaning
that you need a toy that you can tug with and also throw (a ball on a
string, Wubba, one of those big rubber balls etc.): tug with it, then
ask for a trick, throw it some (maybe towards him to fetch it in the air
first if he prefers that over running after it?) and then tug once he
returns it to your hand. You can even keep it on a long string first to
make it look more like tugging game, but you do want to make him like
the chasing part too, so include more&more of that into your games
too.
Entire backyard grass used to be terrible condition. I used to only wear gumboot at the backyard. We are almost there! and all getting thicker and heather! Just a little bit more to be done ♩
I was doing drafing work this week but this job was a little hard and complicated so my concentration didn't last long.. I was worked for 2 hrs, then mowing lawn or palying with dogs, or thinking of what to cook for dinner.. I felt I did a lot but not much work done~.. well, we are actually enjoying mowing lawn a lot and its great exercise for sure as playing with dogs.
I've been repeating to watch this show! it is just incredible! After all understanding how to train tricks, its really motivate me to teach more stuff to my dogs! Dogs are clever! and this man has great relationship with all dogs! simply amazing :)
I had the worst hay fever day in this year but did painting outside all day on Sunday. We found few nice chairs on hard rubbish in my neighbours and did re-make with sanding down and paint them. It was long process but I am very happy with our effort and re-cycled something we can still use and made less rubbish! We also found very cute out door table and huge plastic bucket that is perfect for dog pool! Our garden is still feels empty but slowly getting better!
