The Nationals 1-3 days.

The Nationals officially started on Wednesday, and we needed check in on Tuesday, 
it is nearly a week of agility while you are camping or staying in this area. 
We thought our dogs are not fit enough to do agility for 5 days, in fact they are just came back from injury and not enough muscle to support their strength. 
On Wednesday was pretty crappy weather and we just stayed in Bed and totally relaxed at beach walk! We also did shopping not in lush, then finally drove to the Wirrina cove! 

The location was spectacular, it was more than I was expected, surrounded by nature and ocean, such a pretty area to do agility while you are camping in the cove! 
We put up our tent, cooked dinner properly, eat well -  then finally ready for the event! 

Thursday was beautiful day, and both Koto and Niah were looking good at Jumping. 
Niah had unfortunate 1 bar,  but Koto was lucky enough to get to the 9th!!! and qualified for the final!! woo hoo!! 

Unfortunately, Niah had a terrible experience at the practice area's see saw, it was bad see saw and made huge bang noise, he freaked out and decided to continued to freak out on his favorite Dog Walk as well :( it was hardbreaking that he couldn't even stand at Dog walk. I scratched from every agility event. it was sad..

Friday, we had massive storm!! so event was cancelled!! well, I thought it was great decision, dog's safety is the most important and saving the ground for the weekend was very good idea!!

水曜日から始まったNationalsですが、まだ2匹とも怪我がなおったばかりで体力が完璧ではないし、毎日アジリティの長丁場では日曜まで持たないのではないかと思って、初日はエントリーしませんでした。
あまりいい天気ではなかったし、朝ゆっくりベットでごろごとおもいっきりゆっくり休んだあと、ビーチに行ったりのんびり買物をしてからいざ会場のWirrina Coveへ！
会場のロケーションは想像以上に抜群で丘に囲まれた海のすぐそば。
大自然に囲まれた中で、キャンプをしながらのアジリティは本当に最高！

ゆっくりテントをはって、料理をして、翌日からの競技のエントリーを済ませてすっかりホリデー気分で準備万全！
木 曜日のジャンピングはとってもいい調子！JDM（ジャンピングドックマスター、3度？）の出場犬数が190頭ほどだったので、3日間で3回あるジャンピン グで上位9匹までに入ったペアががファイナルへ進めるという仕組み。ニアと私はあいにくの1barでファイナル件は貰えず。。
でもディーンと琴がなんとぎりぎり９位に入賞！しかも最後のタイヤに後ろ足があたったけど、タイヤは落ちず、ぎりぎりせーふ！！棚から牡丹餅な感じでファイナル権獲得！

こ の日　アジリティ出走前に練習エリアでニアとシーソーの練習をしていたら、雨で滑ってしまい、ちょっと壊れかけのシーソーがかなり大きな音をたてたので、 本当にビビってしまい、、、なんと、ニアくんシーソーにも大好きなドッグウォークにもまったく登らなくなってしまった。。
夕方　もう一度練習エリアでシーソーとドッグウォークをクリッカーとディナーボールを持って練習した所、更に恐怖が悪化していたので、練習終了、残念だけど、全てのアジリティ競技を辞退しました。

翌日の金曜は嵐のような天気に見舞われ、イベントは犬のセーフティを考慮してまる一日キャンセルとなりました！素晴らしい！

 

Merry Christmas!!

I miss running with Koto

I really really miss running crazily and doing agility with Koto! :( 
We can't take her to the park, No sheep herding, No agility... 
She is not sore or limping anymore. We are waiting for fully recover from toe injury. 
At least we can go to the beach for walking... and that's one of our favorite thing to do! but Please please recover quickly Koto... 
Life is boring without running with you! 
 
琴ちゃんと思いっきり走ったりフリスビーしたり、アジリティしたりしたーい。。。
後ろ足のビッコはもう痛みも無くなって　そろそろ3週間経ちます。
公園もハーディングもアジリティもできなくなってそろそろ1ヶ月。
もうそろそろ大丈夫かな
でもビーチへの散歩や泳ぎに連れて行ける事は不幸中の幸い！
真っ青な海と大はしゃぎの犬達を見れるのはやっぱり楽しい♥
早く完治してね、琴ぉぉ。。

Jumping long weekend

We had a long weekend for queens birthdays, and it was finally sunny here in Melbourne! 

Our backyard is still dry and grass is in a good conditions, yes! let's do agility.

Running contacts was good and fun, there was not much drama- :) 

so I did a lots of jumping practice, using Ann croft agility coach's happy hurdle course with both dogs. 

今週末はクイーンの誕生日連休だったし、久しぶりの暖かい天気が3日間続いたので

思いっきりアジリティの練習ができました♥

この時期なると雨が続いて庭がドロドロになってしまい冬はアジが全然出来なくなるのですが、まだ芝もいい状態だし、地面も少し滑りやすいけど乾いています。

ランニングコンタクトは相変わらずいい調子なので、アンクラフトのハッピーハードルのコースで遊びました!

it was so much fun (^^)

So many things that I could learn from this little sequences.  

Bold and powerful koto can be easily beat by slow Niah by loosing time from super wide turns...yes..obvious!! but she did really well with tight circling turns, eventhough she hasn't done agility for 6 month. 

but I really didn't feel right with this handling and comfortable with spinning around like an that with dogs like that! Looks pretty awful, and not creating nice dog's line.. 
Its also difficult to set up course exactly like this map since our backyard is very limited...but I could set up a little bit better?

久しぶりの二匹とのジャンピングは楽しい(^^)

2匹のビデオを比べて見ると
相変わらずパワーの溢れる琴は6ヶ月のアジなしの期間のブランクもあり、

タイトターンがほとんど出来てないのでいくや早く走っても

あまり全速力で走っていないニアに直ぐに追いつかれてしまいます。

でも琴にしてはウイング回りのターンは上手く出来ていたかも。

でも私としてはこのハンドリングに全く納得が行かず。。
うちの庭は物干竿や水道口、木など色いろあるのでしかたないのですが　コースのセットアップにも納得いかず。
犬と一緒にクルクル廻ってるのはどう見ても無駄な動きに見えます。
それにもう少し犬の走りやすいラインを反対方向へ送る事で作れるのでは？

So I decided to handle in different way. To do so, I needed to re-teach treadle. 

yeah... it's important to keep teaching those skills regularly... 
But I haven't done that for awhile! Still very awkward and I need to keep practicing, especially with my feet point, and shoulder, chest...
翌日スレドルを再トレーニング。なんだかまだぎこちない動きでこれはもうちょっと練習しないとです..とくにつま先が斜めだったりチェストやショルダーの向きが全然だめ。

And here is 2 different way of handling in this course.

wow.. After putting much effort of re-teaching treadle... The time was almost identical!  

Just Rear cross in the end did made him tight turn and earn a second to finish. 

Very interesting!!!

わぉ。あんなに一生懸命教えたスレドルだったけど、タイム的にはあまり変わってませんでしたね。

しいていえば、最後のレアクロスでタイム差が出たくらいかな。

Jackpot party with Koto!

We have been back in Running Contact training with Koto.
She is running ok, we are slowly building up her exercise levels now since she is doing great at agility training. Last week, we let her did weaves and she did perfectly!
But she has been leaping sooo badly the last 10 days of Running contact training :( 
its so heart breaking after one year of effort, injury, sweat and tears...

But today! I've fix it!! YES!
Simple--- Just moved carpet forward or backward to adjust hitting spot, 
plus I added super good treat. then she gets 9/10 Jackpots!!! woohoo
Niah's first place prize from the last comp was Canned dog food, which we never give them very often.. and it was the key :) 
How powerful is the food that we don't usually give them? 
Well done you Niah to earn this prize for us!! 

琴とランニングコンタクトのトレーニングを再開しました。
徐々にエクササイズのレベルを上げて来たのですが、先週はアジのレッスンでも
とても良い走りだったし、なんと6ヶ月ぶりにスラロームもしたのですが、全く問題無し！
とてもいい調子だけど、、、でもこの10日間のランニングコンタクトはとぶとぶ、
酷いリープの嵐。。。1年間あんなに怪我をして涙を流しながらも必死で努力してトレーニングしたのに、本当にせつない。。。 

でも！今日の琴はパーフェクト！
解決法は至ってシンプルでした。カーペットをコンタクトから前後に動かした事、
それからジャックポットのオヤツをカンフードに変えた事！
なんと9／10がジャックポットでしたよー
因にこのカンフードは前回のニアの1席の賞品で貰ったもの！いつもはあげないもののパワーって凄いですね
ニア、いい賞品もらってきて偉い偉い！！

ニアの首回りは　ディーンの首回りと同じサイズだった！！

One Mind Dog note that I saw at their web site. I love this one.
Koto has been a big challenge, but that is why we learn so much about dogs! 
She is teaching us a life lesson :) 
OMDのサイトにあったノートです。ホント、こういう風に考えたら
問題の多い琴ちゃんも私達に色々な人生のレッスンをしてくれているんだと思えるし
解決策は必ずあって、諦めさえしなければ必ず見つかるんですよね！ 

This one is from some dog trainer from USA, who was showinga technique of dealing with very reactive dog on youtube.I use to do this training so much when she was young.. but not recently. so it was good reminder for me!!
I am also following "Click to Calm" exercises for now,it's a great book and perfect for Koto's behaivior. I will do many training before I talk to behaviorist..
それからこれは所有欲の強い犬にその所有欲を感じさせないようにする、
様は、リアクトするターゲットの犬から十分な距離を置いてリアクトする直前でトレーニングをする事です。
これも随分前からやって来ているトレーニングですが、最近散歩中に犬に興奮する琴を良くみている、、
という事は、距離を置かずにリアクトさせているという事。。
上のリンクはYouTubeで拾ったビデオですが、こういった毎日のトレーニングは本当に大切。

というクリッカートレーニングの本 も今はもう一度読み直しています。
この本は本当に勉強になります〜！トレーナーさんに相談する前にに　まず出来る事から徐々に始めるつもりです。

Grand mother and Grand son

初めてニアの実家のブルームーンボーダーコリーのホームページを見たとき
ニアのお婆ちゃんのグレースに一目惚れで、数年後にニアを飼う事が出来たのですが、
グレースはやっぱりいつ見ても奇麗な犬。。そして孫のニアは本当にグレースに似ています。
身体はお父さんのチップの体型ですが、この2匹を足して割ったのがニア君かな　：）

I felt in love with Grace when I first time visit Niah's Kennel, Bluemoon Border collies website. 
She is truly beautiful dog, and it's so easy to forget how Niah look so much alike 
Grandmother Grace. Niah has Daddy Chip's structure, but every photo of Grace reminds me Niah :)

明日はニアの3歳の誕生日！
あっという間に3年です。ほんとうに　はやいなぁ
もう立派な成犬ですね
それにしても本当に手の掛からない子で
私達は本当に助かっています。少しおっとりだけど
なんせ琴のパワーが凄いので2匹目は絶対穏やかで優しい子をと願って
探したコ。願った通りのコです。
今回Vetへ予防接種以外で行ったのもなんと3年間で初！
無茶はしない常に健康くんです。
3歳も健康君で〜

Happy Birthday Niah! Believe it or not, it has been already 3 years
since we've got him. 
He is such a sweetie and never cause problem, very calm, gentle and smart.
We wanted to have intelligent, gentle dog because of Koto 
has been way too crazy! Then, as we hope- we've got a perfect dog. 
Because of we are used to Koto's powerful enegy, I sometimes feel 
Niah is too soft and gentle but that's all about Niah. he is just born with the sweetest heart!
And the best thing is that he has never been to the vet except vaccinations. 
Absolutely easy to look after, train, and live with. 
Keep healthy and happy 3 years old Niah. We love you xoxo

Niah's first vet visit

先週のアジ練の帰り際、ニアをなでなでしてるとなにか耳のあたりに
違和感を感じで見てみるとなにか付いていたので、、、
いつの間にどっかで馬のウンチにすりすりし〜た〜なぁ〜〜っと
ちょっとムカつきながらみてみると、、は。

大変！

耳の後ろにばっくりと 5−6cm程のおおきな傷が。。。

そういえば10ヶ月のSotaとBowieに 付け回されて
あっちいけ〜っというかんじで一時ぴりぴりしていた瞬間があったのですが、
合計6匹の犬とわいわいやっていたので、
てっきり犬の鋭い牙で瞬時に切ったのだと思い込み、、あたふた。。

幸いSotaの飼い主さんは獣医さんでして、抗生剤を沢山もっていたので
その場で一つあげ、そして10日分の薬を分けてもらいましたが
帰り道はかなり憂鬱。。あの大きさの傷だと
かなり縫わないとだろうし、そうなると手術だ。。
最近の琴の手術や足の怪我など今年はさんざん。

翌日の朝速攻　獣医へ憂鬱な雰囲気で行ったのですが
なんとabscessでした！なにかが皮膚の下にはいって炎症を起こして
皮膚が死んだ状態でそれがぱっくり開いてしまった状態でした。
原因は不明。猫とか薔薇やブラックベリーのとげやグラスシードが考えられますが
種が飛ぶ季節じゃないし、薮にも入ってないし、、思い当たらない。。
獣医では傷の周りの毛を剃って クリームを塗ってはい！終わり
抗生剤もこのクリームも持っていたので得になにも買う必要もなく
70ドルだけで済みました。。

よかった〜〜〜

あれから1週間たってようやくニアも私も気分が晴れて来ました！
傷はすっかり半分くらいの大きさになりました。

酷い散切り頭になって、顔半分の毛がなくて可哀想ですが、
それでも　いい男！　

We had a little disaster last weekend. I thought Niah had open wound behind his ear, we all thought he has got a big cut by playing with other dogs or something..  I had no idea what was happened... I was so upset and really stressed since we went through Koto's terrible injuries this year. 
Last monday morning, I went to the vet first thing in the morning - then,I actually came home with little smile. 
but it was abscesses developed under his skin and it opened up when we were training. 
Vet thinks it was there for at least few days. He only requires to take anti-biotic for 5 days and put cream once a day. bandage on his foot for 3 days to prevent scratching. But He can walk, run and even swim! 
I AM RELIEVED! He is has half shaved face! but still you are handsome!
