Extreme Fundation with Silvia

My second online class is Silvia's extreme foundation.

To be honest - I thought Niah and I will drop out from this class.. because the first lesson was verbal que proofing and teaching cik vs. cap,  In-in vs. Out..
it was the hardest thing to teach... 
Niah actually knows well about Right and Left command because I make him to spin to both direction so we became very good at it. 
but I gave up on using cik/cap command at trial already, because I always get confused and not telling right command to him.. so I have been only using cik cik for all tight turn, and mostly using my body que to tell which way to turn.

Of Cause_ Niah wouldn't know the command if I don't use it correctly. 

First 2 weeks was a bit too hard - I didn't enjoy the lessons at all.
but we are taking baby steps on verbals cues and we are slowly getting better every time. 
Looks like I just need to keep on practice and be consistent in que!!!


2nd lesson gets a bit more fun -practicing come to hand - obstacle discrimination!
such a fun exercise and Niah and I LOVEd this :D exactly what we needed to practice!!

Agility trial in Slovenia

September 10th Saturday, We visit Slovenian Agility competition with Gabi. 
The venue was located in the middle of beautiful Slovenian mountain valley.
Not only stunning location with layers and layers of mountains, there was also crystal clear mountain river stream and very well looked after community or shared garden right next to the competition. I assume all the vegetable has full of mountain mineral water, looks very healthy and full of nutrition :) Yum! 

We set up shade tent before the course set up :D Gabi is very organised!!
This never happened to me in my whole agility life. lol 

Not only the location, the organization and people were really lovely.  People brought beautiful cakes and sweets to collect donation to replace jumps.  Very good idea to get donation for updating equipment.  The cake were really tasty, the best quality sweets and yes, we donate a lot to swap with those best looking and delicious cakes!

Another surprise was I saw 2 police man hanging out at the competition with glass of beer! I'm not really sure they were working, but on police uniform.. so we thought they were at work :) Probably not much crime happening here!

It was comfortable temperature in the morning, but afternoon had quite strong sun. The organiser did made announcement to not leave your dogs in the car.  
I notice many people uses Silver sun reflection cloth over the car, and it reflect 70% of sun.  Nice product for Australian sun and I always wanted to buy this.  This is going to be my souvenir!

Anyways, back to agility. There was only one ring in this competition so most of people had only 2 runs in all one day. A1 (Novice) and A2 (Excellent) start in the morning, and compete in the morning only.  A3 starts in the afternoon, this means when you became A3, you can wake up at 10 or 11 am, then come to competition in the afternoon!! Or you can go home and relax in the afternoon when you are competing with A1 or A2 dogs.  How nice is this system?



I think having a one ring only - makes people very relax and watch other people's runs. You can really concentrate on your dog, never need to rush like here in Australia, always have so many runs in a day. I saw many handlers are helping another handler at course walk, giving some handling tips.

 

People are looking at competition result and time. 

The result is up on the board as soon as the competition finished.

Courses were very nice.  I really liked A3 course!　Challenging yet fast and flows well. 

After watched everyone's run all day, we felt we were so lucky to watched very high quality agility and very relaxed and happy dogs at this competition.  There are so many famous top handlers, I always watch those peoples run on youtube, but videos never captures their connection with the dogs so it was very exciting for me to watch how those people play and warm up/ cool down their dogs, and how they reward dogs!

Unfortunately To had a toe injury so we couldn't watch her run this day, but wow, she is pretty and super friendly ❤

As we are not even allowed to tug with dogs in the ring or even after the run, Slovenian dogs excitement/ speed or happiness is completely different level to Australian competition.  It is the most stupid rules we have and truly old fashion, I believe this rule came from obedience competition, and we felt that we really really needs to change this rule to achieve "Real Agility". 
I felt it is most important thing to consider right now, upgrading equipment is next!!. 
I hope Australian competition will be more relaxed about it and allow people to train at the competition someday. Restriction for tugging and "must put dogs on lead before leave the ring" totally putting dog's excitement off.

Running Contact update

We haven't done much RC training, since our backyard was very wet,
but we had beautiful winter sunny days for a week, so yay for back in training! 
Koto: 
I've been a little frustrated that we have been only working on "Get that contact game" and starting point from "No-Speed (Sit start)", Thought about putting the height down.. but
decided to not to. Just gradually add entry distance every time with "100% prevention of leaping(static toy for this week) 
So we are trying now running with Speed and working on her separation! 
She still control her speed so much on Down lamp and loose separation sometimes, 
Which is good thing for her! she needs to learn that... since she can be an amazing 
flying leaping dog!!
I will start "tunnel start, then finish with Jump" this weekend! 

ひさしぶりにランニングコンタクトのトレーニングをしています。
先月のトライアルでニア君　コンタクトをミスしてしまったのに
あれからトレーニンングしていませんでした。。
というのも庭がどろどろでトレーニングできる状態じゃなかったのですが、
ここ1週間程冬のあたたかくて、いい天気の毎日が続いています！　
琴ちゃん、徐々にスピードをつけてフルハイトを走らせていますが
今の所絶好調。
やはりスタティックトーイ（”投げないボール”）だとダウンランプの前で
スビード調整しすぎて後ろ足が開かなくなってしまいますが、
このスピード調整も大切なスキルの一つ。
でも後ろ足を開かせるのはもっと大切なので次回はボールを投げてみます。


Niah:  Missed 2 contacts from last trail, but I haven't practice since then. 
So we've done short refresh training with exit handling practice. 
He was doing great, just myself- need to practice timing! 
And the most difficult thing for him is new environment and new dog walk. 
Always important to make sure he RUN on Dogwalk. 
So far, he just LOVEs RC training in our backyard :) so cute!

ニアはコンタクトの前で飛んだりはしないし、信頼できるのですが、
やはり入り口、出口の障害も関係してくるし、何と言っても
高所恐怖症、ビビリんぼのニアには慣れない環境とドッグウォークが一番難しいみたい。
継続して練習するのみですね。
そして何と言っても私のハンドリングの練習！も大切。
なんといってもニアは庭でのランニングのトレーニングが大大好き！

Running Contact Exit 2-4, Turns, Pull and Different handler ;)

うちの庭はランニングコンタクトにはすこし狭いのでExit/Entryの練習は半分諦めていたのですが　やろうと思えば出来るもんですね。。
ジャンプだらけで大変な事になってますが、ニアはこんな狭いコースでも
柔らかい身体の動きできっちりこなしていますよね！
慎重ですこしスピードにかけるニアだからこそ出来るのかもですね。。
琴とはどうなるんだろう！？
結構　ニアとのExitには自信がついて来たこの頃です〜


そして　いつでもハンドラーチェンジ出来る様に、、
ディーンにも練習してもらいましたが、ディーンもニアも意気投合！
大丈夫ですね：）
もっと広いフィールドで練習出来たら良いなー

I've been nearly giving up for Running Contact exit practice because our backyard is not big enough for it.. but Hmm. I guess we could do it for basic 
movement practice.   So I'm getting confident with his exit practice these days. 
He is just great for reacting with my cue after the contact even in this small space. We also tested his RC with Dean, they also did run great together. 
Looks like we can swap handler anytime :)
We would like to practice in larger field someday....

Koto Returning to Running Contact!

琴とランニングコンタクト再開しました！
実に6ヶ月ぶりという事もあって、またリープするのでは？とかなり緊張したんですが
ちゃんとコンセプトは覚えていた様子！良かったー、かなり満足のセッションでした！ 

Koto is finally back in RC! 
We were so nervous about she might show us "beautiful leaping" but not much!! she did remember the RC concept after 6month break and we were so happy with this session !

RC Exit Practice 1

ランニングコンタクトのエクジットの練習をしています。
コンタクトのミスはコレクションの6番だけでした。
（それも私がレフトのコマンドを言い忘れた）それから6のブラインドもかなり
高めの危ないヒットでしたが、それ以外は大丈夫でした！
でも実際はこんなにフロントにポジションできる訳ないし、、
こんなにブラインドも出来ないだろうから確実に”プル”の練習しないとですね。。
次回はニアと一緒に走るくらいの距離でやってみます！

Running Contact Exit practice is coming along nicely. 
Only one miss when I did collection without left verbal cue, 
and One very high and dodgy hit with blind cross on 6, but rest of them were good.
I don't think I will have that much chance to do Blind cross..
So I really need to practice pull!!
Next time, I will run with him from entry, so that more realistic running speed. 

New Dog Walk!

Its been awhile since the last RC training.
This is the first training video of new black rubberized dog walk!
(Not too bad isn't it? its actually so soft and great! perfectly ok for home use!!)

well.. he is still running like a kangaloo,
Still not much separation, but there is SOME separation!
AND yes, he is VERY confident towards to the end! 
I am so proud of him  ♥

久しぶりのランニングコンタクト！
ドックウォークをラバーにして初めてのトレーニングビデオです。
ブラックラバーもそんなに悪くないでしょ？
これが以外とふかふかに柔らかくてかなり上手く出来たので気に入ってます。

まぁ、ニアはまだカンガルーみたいな走りかたしてるし、
セパレーションはやっぱりあまりないけれど
多少はある！（どんどん開いて来てますよね？）
それに　ニアちゃん、自信たっぷり ♥
これだけでも満足！

Koto 105cm DW

105cm 始めました。この分だと
あと2週間程かな！コトもニアもいい調子で走っているので
このまま問題なく進んで欲しい〜
コンタクトに対する理解力が凄く解るこの頃。
これだけ沢山ドッグウォークを走らせる、シルビアのメソッドは凄い。。
フルハイトまであと15センチ！
We started 105cm now. They are both doing great so far! 
Hope we can continue like this until full height.

ちなみにこれは翌日のビデオを普通のスピードで作ってみました。
最後の2runはwrap start, それ以外はトンネルからのスタートです。
トンネルのスピードのあるアプローチだとスピードが付きすぎていてミスしているのが解ります。
一生懸命ストライドを調整してるのにスピードがありすぎてコンタクトに入りきれていないのがミスの原因。
琴偉い！それもこれもエントリーの良い練習なのでこれからはエントリーをミックスして練習してねとシルビアからコメントが。。はーい。。
Koto is doing well. This video is next day of the same height with normal speed. 
Except last 2 runs, She is starting DW from speedy approach and this session became much faster speed than last session so that caused difficulity to fit in her stride into contact.  
Means she is working hard to get contact :)
She is ready for vary approaches to learn how to adjust now :) Good girl Koto!

Finally time for full height Dog walk!

とうとうフルハイト用の足が出来ました！
ニア君後ろ足のセパレーションがあまり良くないので
いつもシルビアに4ストライドを諦めない様に、、とか後ろ足が開いてる時をセレクトして
ジャックポットをあげてとか、　難しい課題が増え続ける一方。。　
オヤツのシステムがあまりクリアじゃない状態がずっと続いてました。
ニアはコンタクトに対する理解は驚く程凄く良くて必ずコンタクトは踏みますが、後ろ足が開いていないので　ジャックポットをあげられない、、こんな状態がじれったい。
後ろ足が開いているのは本当に大切な事だそうです。
まずコンタクトを踏んでいる事がハッキリ見える！
それからメインテナンスがとても簡単。足が開いていない状態だとタイミングがずれたりすると
コンタクトをミスする確率が増えてしまいます。

でもニアは　なんど練習してもしても、なかなか足が開かない、
やっぱり高所恐怖症？それともヒップが悪いのでしょうか？
筋肉のつき方でしょうか？
 
一体いつかこの状態から抜け出せるのでしょうか。。。

なんて考えてるとランニングのトレーニングが次第に憂鬱になって来ました。
でもこれじゃダメだと思い、シルビアに今のニアの走りを受け入れて5ストライドでも
後ろ足が離れていなくてもとにかくコンタクトだけに集中して楽しく走らせてあげたい、
1週間程　コンタクトだけに集中して、思いっきりジャックポットをあげて自信を付けさせてあげてはどうかなぁ？？聞いてみた所、彼女も賛成！
今日のトレーニングは100％ジャックポット！
そうしたら！
スピードがどんどん上がって来たのが目に見えて解るでしょ？ 
調子がいいのでこのままどんどん高さをあげて行きます。

さて、次はビッコのせいで　3週間RCをお休みしてた琴ちゃん。。
上手く復活出来ます様に、、、

Finally Dean made full height Dog walk trestle on weekend :)
Because of Niah doesn't have good extension and rear feet separation - Silvia has been telling me to not to give up 4 stride, keep doing speedy approach, select good separation for Big JP... so we have been aiming for 4 stride with good extension for ages but it has been very difficult task for Niah and we just didn't get it, Training has been not a fun.  Running contact is emotional roller coaster! so I finally decided to talk to Silvia that I would like to accept what ever style Niah runs over the DW,  I just want to accept it and keep on moving. In this session, simply reward for running on contact to simplify the criteria.  Can you tell he is getting faster and faster?  He's got 100% Jack pot today and felt we are much more confident! we are changing current trestle to full height trestle :)  Next one is Koto, she had 3 weeks break due to limping foot. Hope she can recover smoothly!!

Niah RC update -80cm, A Frame and jump exit-

Niah's Running Contact update: 
そして問題児のニア坊。
琴の術後の3ヶ月休みを取った期間、琴とは反対で
真剣に走ってない、、という事で何が原因か徹底的に突き詰めた所、
どうやら高所恐怖症。
感受性の凄ーく激しい子でして、ドッグウォークが90センチになった途端
びっくり、走らなくなってしまい ました。
あれから60センチまで落とし、また1からやり直し、徐々に3センチづつ上げて行くという
気が遠くなる様なダブルステップ、ようするに3ヶ月のトレーニングをやり直してきたのですが、ようやく現在の80センチまで戻ってきました。
この子はもうこれ以上エクステンションもアドジャストメントもしない、
というか出来ないでしょう。
今のこの走りはニアのベストを尽くしてる走りなので、
この状態を崩さすに、
とにかく今の状態をキープする事を目標にしています。
前回かなりびくびくだったA-Frameも随分良くなったよ！ 
Here is Niah's RC update.
He is the one who is being the most problematic brat!
Since we notice that he is scared of height, we put the DW height down from 90cm to 60cm, 
then we put up SLOWLY (3cm every time, but do 3-4 session each height)
Finally we are back to 80cm now.  He is doing okay so far and I think he won't improve anymore.
I'm just trying to keep his current style and condition, and make him to do his best, let it be.
Not what we are looking for. 
His A Frame was much better! we actually made big progress! 
It's always great to use different DW and different environment! 
Go Niah bo!

Koto RC update -DW 80cm, Exit -

koto running contact update:
手術後のブランクからか　酷いLeaping癖が始まり、
それを治すのに随分時間がかかってしまっていましたが、最近は
私がコンタクトを指差す、という”飛ぶなよー”的なシグナルを送る事で
すっかりこの癖が治っちゃいました。
2on2offの時もこのシグナルをしていたので、その時の名残なんでしょうか、
何だか解らないけど、効くのでこれからは一時指差して行きます。
カーペットもフェイドアウトしなければだし、コンタクトも色塗っていないし、、
まだ やる事は山積みですが、
今の所、最近は90％がジャックポット！
今はEXITの練習をしているので　少しスローダウン気味ですが、
でも2つめのAPEXの後かならずアドジャストしてコンタクトを踏んでいます。
この調子でどんどん高さを上げて行きます。現在の高さは80cmです。 
良いぞー琴ちゃん！

Here is Koto's Running contact Update:
After the operation break, she has got this nasty leaping problem 
and took us soooo long to fix this. 
currently she is doing great, I discovered "hand signal" that is making her 
stop leaping. its just pointing out the contact, but she hasn't leap since I started. 
There are so many things that I need to fade out.. carpet, signal and colour the contact zone! but for now, it's okay! I am just happy as she is running great and 
showing great understanding of running on contact. 
Now we are working on different exit, changing jump angles. 
DW is currently 80cm, Go Koto! You little rocket girl!! 
We can keep working like this :)
 

Wide lens and my garden

最近愛用のニコン1対応の”ワイドレンズ”をebayでなんと13ドルで購入しました。
お陰で今まで入りきれなかったドッグウォークが横からしっかり写る様になりました！
ランニングコンタクトやアジ練撮影にぴったりでかなり満足〜。
それにしても庭のど真ん中にある洗濯物干し、、、、
この家に引っ越して来てかれこれ2年、もう1年半以上前に不動産屋を通して大家サンに新しい物干を購入して付け替えたいのですがいいでしょうか？（もちろん私達で全部処理します！という条件付き）というリクエストを出したのですが未だに返事がありません。。
鉄でできたポールはコンクリートで固めているので　これを動かすのは簡単ではありません。切り倒して、小さく切って捨てなければいけません。そのため鉄を切るグラインダーも購入しなければいけないし、簡単な作業ではないのです。でもこの役立たずの物干しさえなければもっともっとアジの練習ができるのにぃぃ。
でもこんな大家でもこの国の他の大家サンに比べたらかなり良い人なのです。私達が出したかなりのリクエストは殆ど答えてくれてます。1年半かかりましたが、新しいフェンスも立ててくれたし全ての水道管を治してくれたり、DishWasherの設置の為のパイプを通してくれたり、時間はかかるのですが、かなり金額のかかる修理をしっかりと徐々にしてくれているので我慢中です。でもいつかオッケーを出してくれますように〜。

I recently bought "wide lens" which enlarge the camera's perspective wider.  
It is so useful to capture our narrow backyard and also perfect for recording Running contact training :) I can see their stride so well now !

I am now desperately want to pull down that huge "Annoying" cloth line that is standing in the center of the yard (and not doing anything).. Without this cloth line, we can do so much more agility practice.. We have asked our real estate agency over a year ago that we wants to pull down and replace it for them, but No answer from them.  But at least, our owner are very generous and did a lot of work for fixing this house for us. Now we are finally have new fence :)
Hope They will say yes someday. 

RC update!

すっかり更新できていませんでしたが、気がついたらあっという間に7月！
もうすぐ七夕！今年は晴れますように。

私は卒業デザイン論文の提出が金曜に終わったので先週末はとにかくだ〜らだ〜らしてました。幸せ〜：）
ところで、、 溜まりにたまっていたランニングコンタクトの方も気になる。。
RCは本当に時間がかかる。まさにどれだけ我慢強く気長にやれるかが
とっても大切なのです。始めた以上　もう逃げられないので真剣に取り組んでいるのですが、琴の手術で3ヶ月程トレーニングを休んでしまいお陰で琴もニアもすっかり調子が戻らずにいます。
琴は酷いLeaping癖、、そしてニアは近頃　全速力で走っていない、、

琴はいつでもどこでも全速力で走るし、Leapingの治し方は時間がかかるけど
方法は沢山あって、治せるのでいいのですが、
問題は走ってないニア。　まず疑ったのはこれはどこか体調がおかしいのではないか？
去年の12月に撮影した全速力で走っているビデオと最近のビデオをスローモーションで
比較してみても明らかにとっても健康な走り方。
そうするとドッグウォークか？とかアプローチがダメなのかな？とか
とにかく2週間かけて　原因を徹底追及してきたのですが、ドッグウォークの高さをぐーんと下げたら随分スムーズに走り出した。。
どうやらこの子は　高所恐怖症みたい 。。。あちゃー。。

という訳でシルビアから新たな課題が。
高い所にジャンプアップするトリックを沢山教える事。
背中とか足の上とかソファーの背もたれとかとにかく毎日高さに慣れる
練習をしましょう。だそうです。　うぁ 
ビデオは先週末のもの。　
以前は90センチまで上がったドッグウォークがまたミニドッグウォークに逆戻りした瞬間！でした。。
がっかり。先は長〜い

こんな広い庭でこんなに思いっきりアジリティが毎日出来るなんて羨ましい。
Smitty クラスを受け始めたときから凄くいい犬だったけど
スピードもターンもコンタクトも完璧になってる！
Grittなんてニアと同じ位の年で一緒にパピークラスを受けていたときは
 ニアと同じでのんびりさんだったのに
ビックリ！凄い上達っぷり。シルビアコーチのパワーです!
やる気がでるよー　私ももっとアジリティ真剣にがんばろぉ

We are never going back!

My school started 3 weeks ago, and I am already have so much to do.. and not much time for Running contact anymore :( 
Summer time will finish in the end of March, and RC class also finish in 3 weeks time. 
Looks like we have to repeat this class again!
Koto is doing great with RC! Her stride and Hits are beautiful!
Many great rear feet separation and deep hits!
But Niah is sinking down to difficult point ... He is not running fast enough to get 
much rear feet separation .. Not easy- but as we expected!

Well, taking time is okay -  but we must not give up and finish RC and never going back!

学校がどんどん忙しくなり、今月一杯でサマータイムが終わり、
そしてランニングコンタクトのクラスもあと3週間で終了。
どうやらリピート確定ですね。
でも琴は本当にどんどん良くなる一方、ニアはどんどん遅くなる。。
後ろ足が開かない、、
高さを上げたり下げたり繰り返し繰り返し。。うーーん、いらいら。。
解っていたけどこんなに時間がかかるとは！
でも後戻り出来ないんでやると決めたら諦めない事。
残りの3週間も　がんばりまーす。

Running Contact update -Plank 10cm raise-

私の夏休みプロジェクトとして琴ニアにランニングコンタクトを教えているのですが、
先生のシルビアはランニングコンタクトは1週間に5ー6セッション（ほぼ毎日）
1セッションに20−25回のランニングをリピートして”速い人で”3−4ヶ月でマスター出来ると言っています。
2オン2オフに比べると凄く長い道のりです。
でも長い目で見ると将来的にコンタクトが崩れる事はなく、殆どメンテナンスをしなくても
コンタクトはどんどん良くなるのみだそうです。
トレーニングもとにかく急がず、ゆっくりやっていくのが大切
でも2匹を一度にトレーニングするのは思った以上に大変。
一番時間がかかるのはビデオ編集とビデオのアップロード、その後でオンラインクラスへのコメント。
しかも2匹〜。でもコメントを貰うのが毎日楽しみ！
とにかく琴もニアももの凄く楽しそう！このゴーゴーゲームが大好きで毎日
コンタクトやろ〜よ〜♥って感じでドッグウォークの上を歩いて自慢げにこっちを見ては
ボールを取って来てお願いしてきます。本当に楽しいみたい：）
こんな一瞬のクリックとオヤツの分別、私の声のトーンだけでダメだった場合、ちゃんとはしれた場合の違いをしっかり見極めてきています。
犬は本当に賢いです

Running Contact Update -Koto last flat plank-

年末に肩を怪我して3週間以上ランニングコンタクトを休んでいた琴ですが
今週から復帰しました〜　そして凄いタイミングでニアのパットが
公園で遊んでいる際に剥けてしまったので
ニアは良くなるまで3日間お休み。
それを狙って琴と1日に3セッション。
猛練習したら凄ーくいい走りが出来る様になってきて　シルビアからも
プランクの高さを上げるように言われました〜　ニアに追いついた！
先日から　プランクを3つを繋いでミニドッグウォークに設定を変えました。
今の所絶好調です

 Koto had 3.5 weeks off from Running Contact training because of her 
shoulder injury. But she is fully recovered and we finally start training her again.
Niah rip his pad at the park somehow.. so he had 3 days off from training. 
it was actually good timing to let her to catch up with him.
She has been running nicely, Few misses every sessions but mostly Jackpot 
or Reward!(Reward for Front Feet Hit, Jackpot for Rear Feet Hit/good separation)
So! yes, we finally start mini-dog walk from yesterday! so far so good!!

Running contact update Day 15-19 -Niah-

Koto had a small accident and injured her shoulder 2weeks ago.
so we haven't done running contact with her, but Niah has been running great.
We have 2 flat plank with barrier, and he is not leaping at all at the contact. 
His run became very consistent style and not much No-Reward tries :)
We will start running on low Dog Walk from this weekend !
Koto is nearly recovered, so should be able to run again from this weekend too.
Oh, And I think I am finally started to see hind feet placement on Contact zone now :)
Clicking timing is getting better too. I just need to get rid of mistake clicks now! 

今年始めにした事はニアとランニングコンタクトの練習でした！
パートナーはドッグウォーク作り　：）
琴に年末にちょっとしたアクシデントがあり、左肩を痛めたので運動は一切禁止していたのでが、
随分良くなりました。今回のキャンプは琴の怪我の為残念ながらハイキングは出来ませんでしたが、
川の水泳で琴のリハビリをする目的だったんです！）週末から琴とトレーニング再開します
ニアはあれから沢山走って凄くいいランニングスタイルが出来て来ています。
次回から低いドッグウォークに設定を変えます。
ちなみに、だいぶコンタクトが見える様になってきました！！クリックのタイミングもOK、でも
間違いクリックがまだぼちぼちあります。。
